The 135th Kentucky Derby!

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

It’s time for my favorite event!  The Kentucky Derby is this weekend in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky–described as the best 2 minutes in Sports, the Derby brings celebrities from all over the world.  This year in attendance will be Micheal Jordan, Lance Gross and Eva Marcielle, Keisha Knight Pulliam; Sherri Shepherd, Tom Joyner, Idris Elba, Gabrielle Union and Star Jones to name a few.  I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures and share them with you RIGHT HERE!  My favorite picks are “West Side Bernie”, “Mr. Hot Stuff” and “Chocolate Candy”–cross your fingers and hope I win!  :)

I just love Michelle Obama.  Yesterday she opened the White House to the kids of her staff for “Take Your Child to Work Day”.  She called it her first press conference and as always she was very down to earth, inspiring and dressed to impress.

Help Spread the Word and Keep Our Babies Safe!

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

The Milwaukee Health Department launched a citywide safe sleep awareness program yesterday, one day after a 2 month old died while sharing a bed with his mother and sister.  This is the third Milwaukee infant to die while co-sleeping with an adult since early March.  Some 120 Milwaukee infants died in unsafe sleeping environments between 2004 and 2007.  Of these, 72 were sharing a bed with parents, other children or a caregiver when they died.  Please watch this video and help spread the word on how to keep our babies safe while they are sleeping.
