The Soul Train Music Awards are set to return November 29th on BET and their new Centric network.  The big talk surrounding the show is the kiss felt around the world between Toni Braxton and 25 year old Trey Songz.  The two did a duet together entitled “Yesterday”.  After their performance, they sealed it with a kiss.  Whether it was planned, staged, whatever…Toni’s husband Keri wasn’t feeling it, he reportedly got up and left and the next day ”signed those papers”.  They are now seperated after 8 years of  marriage and two kids.  Toni has a new CD coming out in February 2010.  I’ll let you judge for yourself, was this kiss worth screwing up her marriage?

Recently Spike Lee dissed our man Tyler Perry! In an interview with Ed Gordon, Lee said that Tyler’s TV shows (House of Payne and Meet The Browns) reminded him of Amos ‘n’ Andy.  What!?  So far, Tyler hasn’t responded, but I’ve got a feeling Madea will find a way to get her two cents in.  Tyler Perry realizes his brand of theatre, TV and movies isn’t loved by everybody, but he DOES have an audience that loves him (I’m one of ‘em).  I especially love to hear Brown sing “This is your Grandaddy, your Granddaddy….”LOL

On May 30th, Spike TV had it’s “Guys Choice” Awards.  Jamie Foxx presented Halle Berry with the “Decade of Hotness Award”.  Once Halle hit the stage, I don’t know what happened!  This steamy photo gives you an idea of how one would be confused, considering Halle has a boyfriend (the father of her child), model Gabriel Aubry.  I’m guessing this was a publicity stunt, but considering the other photos are too steamy for me to show on this site…I’m not sure what to think! You can see the show when it airs on June 21st.

 This piece of news is just leaking out, but according to a new book, Whitney Houston secretly paid a $400,000 ransom demand to kidnappers who threatened to kill her ex-husband.  Word is Bobby was snatched up and held “naked and hog tied” at gunpoint by members of a notorious New York Street Gang known as the Preacher Crew. 

A former member of that gang, David Collins claims in his autobiography “Preacher of the Streets” that Bobby owed $25,000 to a New Jersey drug dealer.  He was allowed to make one phone call (to Whitney) in which he pleaded that she personally deliver the ransom to an abandoned building in the Bronx.  It all sounds like a scene from a low budget movie right?  I can hear that phone conversation now  “Hello Whitney, this Bobby, look these guys say I owe them some money and they want YOU to bring it to them!”  “Ah Hell to the naw Bobby, that’s your perogative!” 

This kidnapping, which was never reported to police, supposedly happened in April of 1993–that’s when Whitney was at the peak of her fame with The Bodyguard and I just find this one hard to believe!
